Wasa 17th Century Swedish Warship WASA – In the 17th century the King of Sweden commissioned his country’s finest warship. The builders knew this would make it top-heavy, but no one dared argue with the king. The Wasa sunk 20 minutes after her launch in 1628. Raised in 1956 and completely restored, she now rests in the Stockholm Naval Museum. Corel’s Wasa kit accurately recreates every detail from the restoration plans. Over 350 sculptured parts of gilded metal provide ornamentation. Fittings are walnut, beech, copper and brass. The 64 cannon aboard are machine turned brass. Hull is double-planked in basswood and walnut. All structural parts of poplar, tanganyka and walnut are pre-cut for a perfect fit. Included are nine sheets of plans and step-by-step instructions.
