Typology : naval model to assemble (mounting kit). First name : HMS Bellona. Height : 61.5 cm. Characteristics : assembly kit, instructions and construction plans in various languages including Italian, first choice materials, fine woods, decorations reproduced in golden cast metal, sheets of brass and/or photo-etched copper. The 74-gun was the fulcrum of the main European naval powers from the Seven Years’ War (1756 – 1763), until the end of the Napoleonic Wars (1815). In 1755, the British Admiralty undertook the fitting out, under the guidance of Superintendent Thomas Slade, of the first vessels of this category, the so-called Dublin class. Launched on 19 February 1760, the BELLONA was sent to support the naval blockade of Brest. On 30 December 1780 the BELLONA took part in the capture of the 44-gun Dutch Princess Caroline; she then operated off Gibraltar in the North Sea and the West Indies. He took part in the naval blockade of Cadiz; he was then in Jamaica, Portsmouth and Barbados. Although more than 50 years had passed since its launch, the BELLONA served until February 1814; she was scrapped at Chatham in September of that year.
