Roberts is the Author the 3 Part Series in 1999/2000 titled “Reconstructing USS Kearsarge, 1864″ in the Nautical Research Journal. This was originally built as Museum Quality Piece and, like many of Dr. Roberts ships that were exhibited in several museum across the country, this one might also have been displayed in a museum. Unfortunately it has not weathered several storms over the years (please see pictures of damaged areas). It needs some TLC and expert restoration alas, which I cannot provide. I will describe the condition as best I can, and please excuse the lack of nautical terminology used in its description. Dimensions measured at its largest points: Height 35″ Long x 37″ High x 16.5 Wide. Mounted and secured on an oak wood base with brass hardware. Base measures 28″ Long x 7″ Wide x 3/4 High. Description: Scale 1:75 – Intricate details with many sails, masts, ropes, rigging etc. Wood construction – 63 Cannon stations – 17 White Stitched Sails – Weighted Metal Anchor – Denmark Flag. It is quite dusty. Wood is rough in some areas. It has 60 cannons, I suspect that a few of the cannons have fallen back into the hull area (I hear some rattle when it is moved). 17 Stitched Sails are intact but need cleaning. The pole that holds the flag appears to have been glued and repaired. One area where the mast holding the sail, the wood rail has come unglued (see pic). Some of the rigging lines have become detached and are loose and tangled. The Norske Love was a three-masted warship launched in 1765. Length 48.93 m, breadth 9.70 m, draught 5.07 m, displacement 1,076 tons, with a crew of 402. The Norske Love was originally named after the Norwegian/Danish coat-of-arms, and was renamed the Oresund in 1772. The vessel was used as a guard boat in the Oresund and other coastal waters around Denmark. There was a normal crew of 667 men and an armament of 70 cannons. She mounted 26 cannons (24 pounders) on the lower deck, 26 cannons (18 pounders) on the middle deck and 18 cannons (8 pounders) on the upper deck. I will be happy to answer any questions as best I can and unfortunately I can only display 12 pictures but you can message me for more specific pictures of areas you would like to see in more detail.
