This may be my last orca that I sell. I dont wanna say for sure, as I have said that before and then built more. But I dont offer these very often anymore. Had it not been for doing the larger Orca, this Orca and the one before it would have never been done. So its highly possible this will be the last one I offer, ever. Only difference is this boat does not have interior details. However the exterior more than makes up for it. This boat is detailed right down to the tiniest detail, including the tiny hinge plate detail on top of the spot light, to the tiny eyelets on the fishing pole, to tiny knobs on the fish finders, spot light, etcc, to even the inlays on the steering wheel helm and possibly my favorite detail on the Orca:The shark jaw on the front of the flybridge. Its been faithfully recreated right down to the tiny teeth and jaw bone detail! Another detail that is really neat, but does not show up in the photos well, is the wrapped / braided rope around the pulpit railing, ladder handles and barrel runners. They are wrapped with tiny ropes hundreds of times and then re wrapped with a slightly thicker rope in sections to give it that realistic braided look that these area’s had in the movie. Very time consuming, but worth it! Another neat thing about this boat is the fact that it was designed to be in scale with the Funko Jaws figures that were released a year ago. (Figures NOT included) HULL: Hull is replicated from a Lobster Boat (same as real Orca). CABIN: The cabin on this Orca was also recreated front, back, side to side, to exact precision. Wherever possible I would actually print out photo’s of the real Orca and simply trace the real boats cabin structure directly onto the wood. The height and width of the windows, as well as the distance between the windows is all correct. The front cabin height and width, etc.. Are all spot on as well. The cabin even has the slight inward taper toward the top, just as the real boat had! See below for more photos PAINT: This is what really sets this boat off IMO. Sadly the pics only capture a fraction of what the paint actually looks like. The paint on this Orca was done up with several layers of “washes” which gives the boat an ultra realistic, aged & dirty look. The dirt and stains appear as if they have been there for years and have dripped, soaked in and faded over time. The seagull poop appears as if its been there for months and has faded from the salt air, wind and rain. The blood on the transom from the chum bucket is faded, yet soaked into the paint, which makes it appear as though it has accumulated over the years without ever being washed clean. The paint is detailed right down to the traces of the blue faded waterline, that was present when the Orca was still the “Warlock”. This was also visible on film in a few shots, but really hard to see.. There is also small faded area’s depicting green algae at the waterline and tiny dried white specs all over the hull, that depicts dried salt water spray.. However I cant take all the credit for the paint. Erik Hollander, who helped create “the shark is still working” documentary and more recently, did the beautiful redesigned cover art on the expanded edition of the “Memories from Marthas Vinyard” book, gave me some great advice on painting and photographing the Orca. So big thanks to him for that! Some more info: This is a static model. Please be aware this is a fragile item. Boat will be well packed and double boxed. Please scroll down for more pics.
