The Royal Caroline yacht was built in Bedford (England) in 1749 by the order of King George II. By virtue of a superior framing and excellent seaworthiness, the yacht worked for its kings for 71 years. Its superstructures were richly decorated; the head and stern figures were generously gold-plated. Chinese manufacturers have done something that the rest of the world did not dare to do: wooden inlay, cabin interior and lighting. Needless to say that all the frame parts are laser cut; the keel consists of three parts and is reinforced with plates; a bevel line has already been marked on all frames, however, the same lines have been also marked on the bow inserts required for planking. The hull design is reinforced with horizontal connections. The deck is made of splines that are already cut into pieces of the required length. The model has a double hull: the first one is made of rather soft splines of 2.58 mm cross-section, and the second one is of 8 mm wide maple splines; the splines should be scarfed, as it can be made in this scale and it will look to advantage very much. Although the keel is made of plywood, but stems and the keel itself are covered with special plates imitating separate wooden pieces. And it is not only the doors (which, for example, have a height of 5-6 cm), but also the flooring, wall lights with already inserted miniature bulbs! , oval table, chairs and even the pictures on the walls. It is reasonable to expect that that the boat is being implemented as a separate project with its own slipway and with the already cut belts for clinker planking. This is not surprising, because the length of the boat is about 30 cm. The pride of this ambitious project is wood decor. All the decorative items have been carved out of wood on the NC machine, so they require final finishing by means of grinding wheels made of felt or by means of nylon brush. It is highly desirable to cover the decor with shellac or oil. As you can see in the photos, this Royal Caroline model has the after cabin and lanterns lighting. To do this, a battery compartment, wires, LEDs are provided. But all this will serve just as a supplement to the basic video instructions which are provided on three DVD discs. As to the disadvantages of the Royal Caroline model, we can mention bad drawings (enlarged scan from Anatomy), the lack of round intermediates for stumps of the masts and bowsprit. But the main disadvantage is that after this model you will not want to make other models, they will all seem to be too simple and easy for you. Now you will have to present a finished masterpiece to friends in order to make another Caroline that will be better than the first one!
