I bought this Stuart Turner kit in January 1977. It is precision built and was lots of fun to do it and see it run on steam. I recently got it all cleaned up again and we ran it on steam with the boiler. The boiler pops off the safety valve at about 40 PSI. We ran it on air as well to get some oil back into the working parts before it ships out. I enjoy this engine but now it’s time for it to move on down the road. I decided to just clean it up and leave it in the Vintage look. It does have some chips in the paint etc. As seen in the pictures. The new owner can paint it another color if they like. The engine sitting on the aluminum plate base is a total of 14 x 6 x 12 inches tall and weighs 18 pounds. The engine bore is 1 inch and stroke is 2 inches. The engine has carefully been adjusted and tested. It runs slow on 20 PSI and looks good. It will run fast even up to 40 PSI or more. Take a careful look at all the pictures and the foggy one is it running on 40 PSI live steam. The boiler is shown blowing off the pre set 40 # safety ball valve. You will need a MAPP gas bottle of the type used for hand held propane or MAPP gas torches. Will run on propane too but slow to heat up. If you run it on an air compressor you will just need to hook the hose up. The fitting now on the hose is one of the most popular ones but easy to change. Also note all the items in the large picture. All of those books, papers, blueprints, and things are included. You may choose to do that as it is a very good price considering all that is in the box. ————————- Now on to the BOILER DESCRIPTION. I scratch built the boiler from a piece of 4 in. Pipe by 7 inches long with 1/4 inch plate welded on both ends. One of the pictures shows the boiler with the fire box door open. In there is a one burner unit like a propane camp stove burner. It burns best with a MAPP gas fuel bottle. You add water by unscrewing the brass cap and remove the ball check valve and spring. Add water and replace ball, spring and cap. The damper in the 1 1/4 inch smoke stack will adjust to keep the most heat in the boiler. There is a 3/4 inch diameter pressure gauge on the boiler that is quite accurate. An accessory is the screw in pipe with large gauge and air hose connector and ball valve. That is to check the blow off valve pressure with air, and handy to blow the water out of the boiler when you are done to help prevent rust. It is shown in the picture blowing off at 40 PSI with steam. The copper tube has fittings on the end to fit the boiler and the engine. The rubber hose has fittings needed to run on air. There are two “tri-cocks” that can be opened and closed to see if water or steam comes out to let you know there is still water in the boiler. I look at my auctions every day and will get back ASAP.
