Brig Lady Washington Model 25. Lady Washington Brig Model. This high quality, highly detailed, expert level, Lady Washington model is Brand New, fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit). Was made famous when Jack Sparrow hijacked her in the 1st. “Pirates Of The Caribbean”. The sailboat model is built exactly to scale as the original Lady Washington was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish. Was built in 1750 on the Essex River in Massachusetts, rigged originally as a sloop, later as a brigantine but has also been described as a brig or snow and there are. Serious disagreements and heated discussions among many historians. Was a 90-ton merchant sloop. She sailed around Cape Horn and participated in the fur and pelt trade with the coastal Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest and in tea and porcelain across the Pacific in China. She was captained originally by Robert Gray, and later by John Kendrick, former captain of her larger sailing partner, the Columbia Rediviva (Kendrick insisted he and Gray switch vessels mid-journey).
