[About the Speed8 2003LM] Bentley first entered motor racing during the 1920s, where they participated in Le Mans 24 hours until 1930. However, the company was bough out in 1931, and they would not be seen at Le Mans again until 2001. In preparation of their return 71 years later at the Sarthe circuit, Bentley prepared the Speed 8, based on the Audi R8C from 2000 and equipped with a V8 twin turbo engine. The name Speed 8 was a homage to their previous car the Speed Six (that ran in 192930), which was named based on the fact that it held a straight-six engine. [About the 750 Imola Racer 1972] In order to meet the demands of the US market, Ducati began development of large displacement/2-cyclinder engines in the late 1960. Fabio Taglioni, designer of the famous desmodromic system used in Ducati engines, went on to designed a L-twin (90 degrees V-twin) engine which was first revealed at the 1970 Milano Show. In 1971, a 500cc racer bearing this engine was entered into Grand Prix events, but it was no match for MV Agusta and their rider G. While the 500cc failed to impress, Ducati also developed a 750cc racer at the same time. These 750cc bikes were to be entered in the first ever Imola 200 mile race in 1972. It would be at this race that Ducati would make a name for itself, as the 750cc racer managed to beat out it rivals and claimed victory with a 1-2 finish. [About the 312B -1970-] Have shared little success with the 312F1 between the years of 1966 to 1969, a new engine was developed under the direction of Mauro Forghieri. The new engine was a flat-12 engine, featuring a completely different weight, size and center of gravity with hopes of better performance than the old 60 degree V12 used by the 312F1. The new engine would make its first appearance with the 1970 Grand Prix entrant: the 312B. While the 312B featured a traditional steel tubular frame chassis and an aluminum body held in place by rivets, it definitely proved to be a step above the 312F1. In the early part of the 1970 season, the 312B proved to be fast but was unreliable and saw many retirements. In the later half of the season it managed to overcome its weaknesses, and at Rd. 8 in Germany J. Ickx managed to take second place. At the next race in Austria both Ickx and Regazzoni managed a 1-2 finish, and Regazzoni was able to claim his maiden victory at the following race in Italy. The pair managed two more 1-2 finishes: at Rd. 11 in Canada and the final race in Mexico. The point leader for the season was J. Rindt of the Lotus team, who suffered a fatal accident during a practice session before the Italian GP. As no one was able to score more points than Rindt after his death, the constructors title went to Lotus for the 1970 season. With the success of the 312B in the later half of the season, Ferrari managed to take 2nd place in constructors and J. Ickxs took second place for the drivers title with a 5-point difference from Rindt. Three variations buildable including the first ever winner of the Monaco Grand Prix in 1929 #12 as driven by William Grover-Williams, the first place winner of the 1930 Monaco Grand Prix #22 driven by René Dreyfus and the second place winner of the same race #18 driven by Louis Chiron. Parts for the tire rack used by car #12 and tonneau cover used on the side cockpit for car #22 are also included. A full detailed, multi-material kit featuring white metal, resin, etching, metal turned parts, rubber tires, decals, leather-like sheet and various cords allowing for maximum representation of the original vehicle.
