This Greek Galliot (Galley) Privateer is part of Amati’s Historic Model Kit Series. The kit is very detailed and accurate. It includes pre-cut keel, frames and deck, planking, masts and spars, metal and wood fittings, wooden inlaid decorations, cloth for sails, flags, oars, metal cannons, construction plans and instructions. Some prior experience using hand tools recommended. Length 21.7″, Height 17.5″, Scale 1:65. That war involved numerous actions of the Greek privateers against the Egyptian and Turkish (Ottoman) ships. These Galliots were very swift, with a narrow draft, which enabled them to anchor unseen inside the narrow gulfs of the Aegean islands, waiting to pounce on the enemy vessels.
